Teens from St. Annes Catholic Church filled 75 Thanksgiving food baskets Monday night for distribution on Tuesday. Its a tradition that is about 15 years old at the church, said Clara Rey, coordinator of the churchs teen youth group. Different organizations in town provide names of families, the church writes letters and asks the families if they would like to have one of the basekts. The baskets included a turkey, rolls, bag of potatoes, canned goods and other fixings for a Thanksgiving meal. Some families call and tell us theyre OK and ask that the basket be given to someone else, said Tina Garcia, parish secretary. Children from religious education classes made turkey centerpieces and others colored pictures for the boxes. The churchs St. Vincent de Paul and other groups raised funds to purchase turkeys and staples for the baskets, Garcia said.
