The Tucumcari VFW Post 2528 will be holding three events in honor of Veterans Day. At 8 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9, the VFW will place flags at the cemetery for all veterans. On Saturday the VFW will be holding their annual Buddy Poppy drive at various locations throughout the town. At 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, the VFW will hold their annual Memorial service at the cemetery then will join the Daughters of the American Revolution at their annual commemoration of Veterans Day at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 11. The service will be held at the Veterans Park at the corner of Main and Third Street. The service will be held to remember and honor our veterans and thank them for their sacrifices while protecting our country.
“We invite everyone to come out and help us honor and remember our veterans,” said Tucumcari VFW Post 2528 commander Mucio Lopez. “We are thankful for the sacrifices that all the veterans and their families have made for our freedoms today.”
In Logan the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 77 will host a Veterans Dinner at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at the American Legion Post 77 Bingo Hall. There will be a social hour from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
