Tucumcari agency to receive housing grant

Tucumari's housing agency will be receive $671,300 to rehabilitate two duplexes and construct an additional four one-bedroom units for eight persons with physical disabilities, according to an announcement on Friday by the U.S. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Alphonso Jackson.
The funds are part of a $5.7 million housing assistance grant to New Mexico to provide housing for senior citizens and people with disabilities to find affordable housing, the press release stated.
Tucumcari's non-profit sponsor is the Eastern Plains Housing Development. Corp., which will also have a $76,800, three-year rental subsidy for eight units. According to the project description: The funds will be used to rehabilitate two duplexes and construct an additional four one-bedroom units for eight persons with physical disabilities. There will be a mixture of one and two-bedroom units, totaling eight units. The community building will be located at a central location so that all residents have access, consisting of an onsite manager's office and laundry/maintenance facility.
