Making a difference Forty people attended the "Make a Difference Day" at the Tucumcari Municipal Library on Saturday. The celebration was hosted by the Tucumcari Altrusa’s Literacy Committee, which donated $250 to the library. The donation was used to purchase Spanish reference books, including encyclopedias and a medical dictionary. Tucumcari Mayor Antonio Apodaca spoke at the event. QCS receives four awards The Quay County Sun won four awards Saturday in the New Mexico Press Association in Albuquerque. The annual newspaper awards recognize newswriting, photography, graphic design and special projects published by the state’s daily and weeklies. The Quay County Sun, which competed in the division of weeklies with an under-5,000 circulation, received awards in the following categories: l Breaking News Story, second place, Chelle Delaney, associate publisher l Series or Continuing Coverage, first place Thomas Garcia, reporter l Feature Photo, first place, Chelle Delaney, and l Black & White Advertising, second place, Nancy Werner, graphic designer.
