Legal workshop for seniors A free legal workshop and clinic for senior citizens will be offered in Tucumcari by the Lawyer Referral for the Elderly Program, or LREP, by the State Bar of New Mexico. The workshop will cover issues important to seniors such as Powers of Attorney, estate planning and eligibility for Medicaid to pay for long-term care. Following the presentation, attorneys will consult privately for 30-minute consultations with individuals who have scheduled appointments. Attorneys can prepare financial and medical Powers of Attorney at the clinic, according to a press release from the State Bar of New Mexico. The workshop and clinic will be at 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 7 at the Tucumcari Senior Center, 523 S. Third St. Appointments for private consultations must be made prior to the workshop and will begin at 1 p.m. on Nov. 7. To schedule an appointment, call Loretta Lucero at 461-2307. All senior citizens who live in the area are encouraged to attend, regardless of whether they have previously participated in events at the senior center. This may be the only occasion LREP will be in Quay County during the year.
