Six Shooter Fest attracts talent for stage and bake-off

Despite gusting winds off the prairie, the first Six Shooter Siding Festival got off to a good start, say its organizers.
“There was heavy traffic. We estimated 350 to 375 showed up before the winds started blowing,” said Sharon Quarles, chairman of the event.
The event was sponsored by the Tucumcari MainStreet group to bring people downtown in anticipation of the future potential of the area’s redevelopment.
“We people participating in the pumpkin painting and playing horseshoes, Quarles said.
By evening, the wind had died down and up to 250 people attended the dance, she said.
Overall, “It was a success. It went really well for the first one and with only six weeks to prepare and promote,” Quarles said.
And for next year, “we know how to improve it,” Quarles said.
