A male suspect, James Benuska, has been arrested and charged with an open count of murder in the case of a 60-year-old woman who was found dead Wednesday morning at the Microtel Inn on First Street, a New Mexico State Police officer said. Investigators believe that Nancy Archibeque of Tucumcari was beaten to death, State Police Sgt. Andrew Tingwall said. The motive for Archibeque's beating and death is still under investigation, Tingwall said. The Crime Scene Unit is still collecting evidence at the scene, Tingwall said. No additional information about Benuska was available at this time, Tingwall said. It is believed the homicide occurred between 11 p.m. Tuesday and 7 a.m. Wednesday, said Lt. Cleo Baker at the scene this morning. Other workers at the motel found Archibeque and Tucumcari Police Lt. Patti Lopez responded, according to Tingwall and Baker. It is the fourth homicide this year in Tucumcari. Other homicides that have been investigated this year in Tucumcari are: Lucy Vigil was slain Aug. 29 at her home. Tiffany Throckmorton was shot on April 24 at her residence on East High Street. Albert Jason Pacheco was shot on Feb. 1 on Main Street.
