The District Court Nominating Commission met Thursday in Tucumcari and completed its evaluation of the two applicants for the vacancies on the 10th Judicial District Court nominees. The commission recommended two local attorneys to Gov. Bill Richardson: attorney Albert J. Mitchell, Jr. and Don Schutte, deputy district attorney. A vacancy on the bench occurred when District Court Judge Ricky Purcell retired on June 30. The judicial nominating commission is coordinated through University of New Mexico School of Law, Albuquerque.
