New director for GTEDC selected

The Greater Tucumcari Economic Development Corp. (GTEDC) has selected Patrick Vanderpool of Pampa, Texas, to head up its development efforts, said Franklin McCasland at the Tucumcari City Commission meeting Thursday.
McCasland said it was hoped that Vanderpool would start on June 1.
Vanderpool assumes the post that was left vacant on Feb. 9 by Pete Kampfer. Kampfer moved to Paris, Texas, to become the director of the Paris Economic Development Corp. and president of the Lamar County Chamber of Commerce.
Vanderpool is currently the executive director of the Pampa Chamber of Commerce.
Vanderpool declined to be interviewed citing a vote by the board of the GTEDC early next week.
Vanderpool has close ties to New Mexico. He is a former rural economic development specialist for U.S. Sen. Pete Domenici.
