A grasshopper management workshop will be offered for farmers, gardeners and others seeking information about prevention and suppression of grasshoppers. The state office of the Plant Protection and Quarantine Branch of the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service will conduct the workshop. It will cover risk management and practical approaches with grasshopper outbreak prevention, intervention and suppression. In addition, it will cover which species are considered beneficial. Guest presenters are the well-known western states' entomologists, Alexandre Latchininsky and Scott Schell. This workshop qualifies for certain continuing education credits. It will be from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on April 25 at the Tucumcari Convention Center. Call the Quay County Extension Service at (505) 461-0562 more information.
