Udall to visit Tuesday...

U.S. Rep. Tom Udall will be in Tucumcari at 9 a.m.-10 a.m. Tuesday for a Town Hall Meeting at the Tucumcari City Hall. Udall is expected to discuss the first 100 legislative hours at the House of Representatives covering legislative items from alternative energy to Homeland Security to stem cell research, said an official in Udall's Santa Fe office. Udall and members of his staff will also hear constituents’ concerns and questions, the official said. All are invited to attend. Celebrating No. 8... Cristal Hernandez celebrated her eighth birthday yesterday with her family and friends. Cristal is the daughter of Antonio Hernandez and Carol Montiel of Tucumcari. Her grandparents are Angel and Mary Montiel of Tucumcari and Patricio and Hertensia Hernandez of Mexico. Sisters celebrate... Alyssa Ann Sena turned 7 years old on Sunday. Her little sister Alayna turned 1 year old on Jan. 21. Her parents are Abel and Jennifer Sena of Tucumcari. Her grandparents are Max and Mary Rose Jimenez and Paul and Freda Sena. Her great grandparents are Dora Medina and Vincente and Cornelia Tapia. Good citizens honored... The Tucumcari Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution honored the winners of its annual Good Citizen Contest. The Good Citizen Contest was open to high school seniors. The faculty of each participating school selected senior students they believed show the strongest qualities of leadership and integrity. Each student selected then wrote an essay describing why they felt they were chosen. There were three winners this year: Ashlee Burns of Logan High School, Courtney Mitchell of Roy High School (not pictured) and Rusty Brake of Tucumcari High School. For other DAR winners, see Page 3.
