Seven Tucumcari Rattlers football players have been selected for the New Mexico 2A All-State team. The selection for the All-State team is honorary and no actual football game is played by the athletes. “I am very proud of these young men,” said coach Dub Smith. “They are very deserving of this honor. The gentlemen portray what this football program is all about. I am thankful to our fans and especially to our fine coaching staff. The coaches have done a fine job working with these men one-on-one and it shows with their selection.” The players selected for first and second team are tight end Drew White, running back Brian Lopez, defensive lineman Andre DeBord, defensive lineman Josh Villegas and place kicker Anas Badshah. Players selected for honorable mention are quarterback Matt Smith and defensive back Daniel Kampfer.
