You never know when a loved one, a friend or your next door neighbor may need blood. Community blood drives will be held in Logan and Tucumcari this week. On Thursday, from 12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., the blood drive will be at the gymnasium at Logan Public Schools . On Friday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. , the blood drive will be at Rooms 121 and 123 at Mesalands Community College. Flags will be ready to place on the graves of veterans at 9 a.m. on Friday morning at the cemetery. Anyone who can help is encouraged to come. Ceremony on Saturday The annual commemoration ceremony of Veterans Day will be at noon on Saturday at Veterans Park, at Main and Third streets. A reception will follow at the VFW Post hosted by the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Everyone is invited to attend the event. Toy run, food drive set American Legion Riders of Chapter 9 and the American Legion, Arch Fitzsimmons Post #19 of Conchas Dam, are hosting this year’s Toy Run & Food Drive at 1 p.m. on Sunday. at the Tucumcari Elks Lodge. The donation is two cans of food and one toy, with a value of $10, per person. There will be door prizes and an enchilada dinner prepared by the senior parents. The cost of the dinner is $6 per plate. Bring your cans of food and toy to help a child and family have a nice holiday.
