The Lady Rattlers volleyball season ended in a five-set nailbiter at the Snake Pit. Lady Rattlers lost to rival Santa Rosa Lady Lions, 15-17 in the final set. The score remained tied and no one team took an outstanding lead – until the last play. A kill from Rattler senior Cori Wilson and freshman Kaitlin Lopez brought the Rattlers within one point of the Lady Lions. But, a bad pass on a return hit ended the Lady Rattlers season with 15-17 fifth-game loss. Coach Kaylene Davis said, “I am so proud of these girls. They came a long way this year. We had some players who had never played certain positions become strong players and leaders arose on the court through the year.” The Lady Rattlers lost 5-13, 25-20, 25-27, 20-25 and 15-17. The district 6 2A match-up began with the Lady Rattlers winning the first two sets. In set one, senior T’Shawna Span had two blocks and a kill resulting in points. Wilson had multiple aces with a strong kill. Set two was played close by both sides. Late in the set, senior Samantha Montano went to the floor for a dig followed by another dig out of the net by Span resulting in a point. The Lady Rattlers closed out the season 9-11.
