Special to the QCS Quay County Heritage Dayze starts on Friday and continues through Saturday at the Tucumcari Historical Museum. Festival-goers will find entertainment, history, hands-on activities and food and beverages for all. On hand will be the Paseo del Norte Pistoleros with a true Western re-enactment including Calamity Jane. Trick roper “Wild Bill” Cathey will perform each day. Mary Jane “The Bread Lady” will be firing up the horno and creating wonderful Native American foods. K-Bob’s Bar-B-Q wagon will be serving out of the wagon with Bar-B-Q and Sausages to go. The Zotigh Native American Dancers will be highlighting their traditional dances and be adorned with feathers, beads and turquoise. Dwain Bond, the “Honky Tonk” piano man, will play in his saloon until the cows come on home. Mariachi Nuevo Sonido will be serenading everyone with their lovely Mexican music. Also featured are the New Mexico Mountain Men. Their tents and teepee will be pitched, fires burning and stories to be told to all. Other attractions will be the Piñata bust, the Kid’s Corner with hands on activities, pottery making, yarn dyeing, butter and ice cream making, blacksmithing and Dutch Oven Cooking.
