Quay County Commission Chairman Franklin McCasland was at the county manager’s office Tuesday trying to grapple with some of the issues facing the county. On Friday, the Quay County Commission will hold a special meeting at 9 a.m. with the county’s department heads and elected officials “to discuss how to move through this time of transition and ask them how we can help the county run smoothly and efficiently during this time,” McCasland said. McCasland said, “I have faith in all the department heads and elected officials that they will cooperate during this transition. They are at as much of a loss as the commissioners are with the sudden loss of Terry.” Turner was in charge of some 30 county departments – staffed by nearly 100 people – that ranged from supervision of such departments as the county’s roads and the Quay County Detention Center, to work with elected officials and their departments, McCasland said. In the 2005-06 fiscal year, Turner oversaw $7.7million in expenditures and $8.4 million in revenue, McCasland said. At the regular meeting at 9 a.m. on Monday, the Quay County Commission is expected to address the county manager’s post, McCasland said. “There are three commissioners and we will all have to address the position,” he said. the county.
