Precipitation situation... The New Mexico State University Agricultural and Science Center at Tucumcari released earlier this week its year end report for precipitation and snowfall. • Total precipitation for 2006: 23.44 inches Normal for year: 15.66 inches • Total Snow for 2006: 13 inches Total winter snow: 11.5 inches Total snow December 2006: 9 inches • In December 2006: The average temperature was 38F, average high wa 52F and the average low was 25. Temperature extremes in December have included: A maximum of 82F in 1980, a minimum of -18F in 1918. Total precipitation was 1.51 inches, compared a normal .66 inches. Precipitation extremes in December have included: A maximum of 4.27 inches in 1959, a minimum of 0 in 1933 and other years.
