Beames leaving as Trigg administrator
Published: Friday, June 2nd, 2006
When Hoyt Skabelund left Trigg Memorial Hospital for Socorro General Hospital in 2004, New Mexico native Bo Beames took over as the Tucumcari hospital’s administrator. Now Skabelund has left Socorro for Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis, and Beames is again replacing him. He’ll leave Tucumcari and begin his new duties in Socorro next month. After nearly a year-and-a-half at Trigg, Beames said the decision to move was tough. “We feel as though we were very lucky to be a part of the community,” Beames said. “We made a lot of friends here and that’s made the decision to leave harder.” Much of the decision, Beames said, was based on being closer to his wife Dolores’ family. A Hobbs native, Beames began his career in healthcare management at St. Vincent Hospital in Santa Fe in 1989. He served as administrative director of Black Hills Rehabilitation Hospital 1995 to 2004 before coming to Tucumcari. “I hired Bo about 18 months ago for Tucumcari,” said Jim Ferando, Presbyterian Health Care System’s vice president of regional operations. “When Hoyt decided to go to Socorro, we did a nationwide search. “Bo’s got very good experience. I liked the way he talked about how he managed people.” Ferando said the administration shifts going on are uncommon because the timing is usually off, but it’s an enviable situation. “It takes you two to three years to get your feet on the ground in the Presbyterian system,” Ferando said. “When you can have an internal promotion, it saves a lot of education time.” The search is ongoing for Beames’ replacement at Trigg. Ferando said there are at least two internal candidates right now, and the application process is open through Wednesday. Presbyterian has eight facilities in New Mexico — Presbyterian and Kaseman Hospitals in Albuquerque, Trigg, Plains Regional, Socorro General, the Colfax General Long Term Care Center in Springer, Espanola Hospital and Lincoln County Medical Center in Ruidoso.
