Little League meeting set for Sunday Quay County Little League has scheduled a meeting for 4 p.m. Sunday at the Tucumcari Recreation Center. All interested coaches, volunteers and individuals should attend. Participants are asked to bring any equipment or uniforms they have. For information, contact B.J. Molinas at 461-1876 or Yvetter Fazekas at 461-2874. MCC Shrimp Boil benefit tickets on sale Tickets are on sale for the seventh annual Mesalands Community College Mardi Gras Cajun Shrimp Boil. The event raises money for the MCC College Foundation. The event runs 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. March 10 at the Tucumcari Elk’s Building. Last year’s event netted nearly $10,000 for the foundation. One-third of that money has been made available for annual scholarships and the remaining amount has been placed in an endowment to provide scholarships for future generations, college officials said. Tickets are $50 each, and are available at Bob’s Budget Pharmacy and Mesalands Community College. There will be no ticket sales at the door. Fairgrounds to host March cattle workshop Quay County Extension Service will host a three-day Cattle Artificial Insemination Workshop, to be held at the Quay County Fairgrounds. Cost for the training is $285 per person, and the workshop is limited to 15 individuals. The workshop will cover reproductive anatomy of the cow, techniques, and live cow practice on the first day. Second day agenda includes equipment needs and maintenance, semen handling practice, correct placement and live cow practice. The final day’s agenda will cover reproductive physiology of the cow, heat detection techniques, heat synchronization methods, semen handling practice and live cow practice. Following the workshop a New Mexico certified-licensed Artificial Insemination Technician Exam will be administered if there are a minimum of five individuals interested. This exam will be administered through the New Mexico Board of Veterinary Medicine for an additional cost of $150. Pre-register by March 14 by contacting the Quay County Extension Office at (505) 461-0562. Udall staffer to visit Tucumcari Monday A staff member for U.S. Representative Tom Udall, D-N.M., will hold constituent office hours from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Tucumcari City Hall. Udall staff member Peter Wells will be available to meet with area residents. Anyone wishing to make an appointment may do so by calling 763-7616. Anyone desiring to discuss issues relating to Congress or the federal government is welcome to stop by. Iron pour donations sought by college Mesalands Community College is holding its annual iron pour March 17, and organizers are seeking donations of iron. Any scrap iron that can be spared would be appreciated, such as bathtubs, sinks or radiators. For information or to contribute, call Djean Jawrunner at 461-4413, ext. 160.
