Juliaveve Arredondo will be 2 on Sunday. She will be celebrating with her great-grandmother Marie Sturdivant in Portales. She is the daughter of Rick and Shannon Arredondo of Clovis and the niece of Aaron and Lynnsel Hall of Tucumcari. Grandparents are David and Shedra Hall of Tucumcari and Francisco and Lidia Arredondo of Abernathy, Texas. Joe Brito and Rhonda Woodrum exchanged vows Feb. 11 at the First Baptist Church in Tucumcari. Family and friends attended the ceremony. David England was the pastor for services. Gracie Leann Otero turned 3 on Tuesday. Gracie is the daughter of Gino and Miquela Otero of Tucumcari. Gracie, along with her baby sister Emily, family and close friends celebrated her party on Feb. 11 at Pizza Hut. Gracie’s grandparents are Charlie Valverde, Joe and Judy Martinez and Gene and Evelyn Otero. Great-grandparents are Vera Cordova, Rose Otero and the Late Pete Valverde Sr. Her God-parents are Anthony and Cynthia Hendren and Jessica Maestas. Lewis Martinez Jr. graduated from the United States Navy Recruit Training Center in Great Lakes, Ill., on Jan. 27. Martinez is stationed in Meridian, Miss., where he is studying yoeman administration. A 2001 graduate of Tucumcari High School, Martinez is the son of Lewis and Vivian Martinez of Tucumcari. Johnnie and Betty Firestone of Portales celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday in Portales. The celebration was hosted by their children Mike and Beverly Helm of Hallinsville, Mo., Rufus and Delores Campbell of Floyd and Bruce and Brenda Ryberg of Dexter. The couple was married Feb. 12, 1956 in Portales. They have three children and seven grandchildren. He is a farmer and rancher with operations in Floyd, Portales and Fort Sumner. She is a landlord, managing the couple’s rental apartments and houses.
