The New Mexico Activities Association (NMAA) recently selected the All-Star team and six members of the Tucumcari Rattler State Runner-up team. On the offensive side of the ball, Josh Benavidez was chosen at quarterback and Eric Holt at running back. Defensively, Marc Salas will line up as a down man, Nathan McDonald an end, Justin Benavidez and Adrian Jones will play in the secondary for the north team. The 16th annual North vs. South A/AA All-Star Football game will be held June 10 in Silver City. Teams are selected by a committee of head football coaches in each section of the state representing class A and AA districts. “It’s a great privilege and I’m glad to have been chosen,” said Nathan McDonald. Adrian Jones said, “I never thought I’d make it, but when I did I was excited.” Members of the team will practice in Silver City from June 6 through 9 with David Burns of Crownpoint as this year’s head coach of the North team. Last year’s all-star game saw the North slaughtered 40-0.
