Today — Heritage Dayze continues at the Tucumcari Historical Museum at 416 S. Adams, providing activities and demonstrations that bring Quay County heritage to life. Today and Sunday — The 13th annual Nara Visa Cowboy Poetry Gathering at the Nara Visa Community Center. (All times are CST.) Monday — Quay County DWI Task Force meeting at K-Bob’s Restaurant from noon to 1 p.m. Third Mondays ongoing — The Canadian River Soil and Water Conservation District will hold its regular meeting at 7 p.m. in the conference room of the Natural Resource Conservation Service, 706 S. 1st St. The meeting is open to the public. Tuesday — Quay County Maternal Child and Community Health Council will hold a regular meeting 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Quay County Extension Office located in the basement of the courthouse. Wednesday — 13th annual Rotary Air Show, rated third best in the country, features Canadian Air Force Snowbirds, USAF A-10’s, helicopter stunts, barnstorming acrobatics, Greg Poe Air Show, Eric Beard’s Yak 54 Russian Thunder, the world’s only twin jet sailplane and a display of 40 aircraft. Gates open at 10 a.m. and shows start at noon; show includes food and merchandise vendors. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for students, and free for kids 5 and under. Wednesday — Quay County Courthouse will be closing at noon for the air show. Regular business hours will resume on Thursday. Wednesdays and Fridays ongoing — “La Voz” Hispanic radio program airs on KTNM 1400 AM radio on Wednesdays and Fridays from 7 to 10 p.m. Fridays ongoing — Thank God It’s Friday (TGIF) is provided for students K-5th grade on Fridays when there is no school in Tucumcari or no scheduled holiday. Oct. 1 — The first ever Route 66 Flea Market in Tucumcari at the Tucumcari Convention Center, 1500 W. Rt. 66. Oct. 1 — Comcast Cares Day. Comcast employees volunteer nationwide on the first Saturday in October to help their communities. Oct. 3 — A monthly meeting of Rural Area Development (R.A.D.) will be held at the Norton Fire Station one mile south on Norton Road at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 5 — Story Time for children 2 1/2 to 5 begins at the Tucumcari Public Library. Registration is continuing for Story Time, which will be held in tree different sessions every Wednesday beginning Oct. 5. Call 461-0295 for more information. Oct. 5 — Altrusa will hold a program meeting by the Vocational Committee at Bambinos Restaurant at noon. Oct. 15 — Altrusa will hold its 2005 Rodeo Roundup Car Party at the Elks Lodge at 6 p.m. with a dance to follow. Tickets are $100 with net proceeds to benefit community service projects. Ongoing — Veterans of Foreign Wars, Ladies Auxiliary Post 2528, is looking for Quay County World War I, World War II and Desert Storm veterans, living or deceased, for a memorial.
