Laura L. Burton Laura L. Burton, 79, of Santa Fe, died Wednesday, June 29, 2005, at her home. She was born on Oct. 27, 1925, in Fort Sumner. She grew up in Norton, and worked at J.C. Penney’s and retired from the gas company of New Mexico after 17 years of services. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Burton; a son, Michael “Burt” Burton; a sister Lois and (husband Earl) Hosack; a brother, Larry “Bunk” Latham; her parents, Mabel and Walter Latham. Survivors include her son, Joseph (Karen) Burton; a daughter-in-law, Pat Burton; a brother, Norman (Barbara) Latham; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services are at noon Friday in Santa Fe. Memorial contributions may be made to the PMS Hospice, 1400 Chama Street, Santa Fe, N.M. 87505. Arrangements are by Berardinelli Family Funeral Service of Santa Fe. Ralph M. Mendez Jr. Ralph M. Mendez Jr., 33, of Tucumcari, died Saturday, July 2, 2005, at his home. He was born on Oct. 24, 1971, in Glendale, Calif. He came to Tucumcari in 1991. He had been working in maintenance while living in California. He was preceded in death by his father Rafael M. Mendez Sr. Survivors include his mother, Lillian Mendez of Tucumcari; a brother, Jesus Mendez of Tucumcari; two sisters, Lilia Rivera of Amarillo, and Anna Mendez of Sun Valley Calif.; a grandmother, Josephine Martinez of Tucumcari; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Services are at 2 p.m. today at Dunn Memorial Chapel in Tucumcari. The Rev. Dale Cordova will officiate the services. Burial will be at Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers are Angel Griego Sr., Gilbert Maes, Juaquin Vargas, Joey Martinez, Jose Vargas, and Raymond Martinez. Arrangements are by Dunn Funeral Home of Tucumcari. Lori Roberts Lori Roberts, 67, of Tucumcari died Sunday July 3, 2005, at Laurel Ridge Healthcare in Clovis. She was born June 19, 1938, to Serafin and Alvina Salazar Cordova in Vaughn. She married Johnny Roberts on July 31, 1954, in Clovis. She worked in housekeeping at the Hotel Clovis before moving to Tucumcari 25 years ago. She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Tucumcari where she sang in the choir. She was preceded in death by her father and three brothers, Sammy, Joaquin and Marcelina Cordova. She is survived by her husband; her mother Alvina Cordova of Clovis; three sons, Eddie Roberts (and wife, Rhonda) of Clovis, Ricky Roberts of Lubbock and J.J. Roberts of Clovis; two daughters Carolina Swartz (Dale) of Kerrville, Texas, and Sandra Brown of Clovis; three brothers, Robert, Paul and Ray Cordova, all of Clovis; three sisters, Madlyn Hail of Clovis, and Lola Romero and Mary Cordova ,both of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and five grandchildren. Father Sotero Sena officiated services. Burial followed at Tucumcari Memorial Park. Deacon Daniel Chavez officiated the burial ceremony. Pallbearers were Samuel Cordova, Ray Cordova, Paul Cordova Sr., Paul Cordova Jr., Patrick Cordova, Kenny Swartz, Albert Cordova and Benjamen Cordova. Arrangements were by Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis. Guy Pinkert Guy Pinkert, 65, of Logan, died Friday, July 1, 2005, at his home. He was born in Clive and lived in eastern New Mexico most of his life. He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad as a machinist for more than 15 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Gwen Burns; and a brother Edd Pinkert Jr. Suvivors include a daughter, Laurie (and husband, Ron) Bradburn of Amarillo; a son, Stephan Pinkert of Portales; a sister, Mary Jo Connally of Van Horn, Texas; two grandsons and several nieces and nephews. Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at Rogers Point at Ute Lake in Logan. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home of Amarillo, Texas.
