Joe Liles, 96, died Tuesday April 26, 2005 in Tucumcari following an extended illness. Liles was born on Dec. 6, 1908 near Altus, Okla. He was a farmer in the San Jon area for many years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of San Jon. He married Lillian Dunn in 1930. He was preceded in death by two brothers; two sisters; and two daughter-in-laws, Bonnie Liles and Raye Liles. Survivors include two sons, John Al Liles of Tucumcari and Joe H. Liles Jr. (and wife Sue) of Amarillo, Texas; a daughter Joyce Toombs (Wilson) of San Antonio, Texas; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Marie Haldren of Frost, Texas. Graveside services were held on Friday at the San Jon Cemetery. Rev. Roy Mitchell and C.L. Bowe officiated.
