City seeks new police chief by June

Tucumcari City Manager Richard Primrose said Thursday the city is taking out advertisements for a new police chief and he hopes to hire a new chief by June.
Primrose said Interim Chief Mark Radosevich has helped design the advertisements.
“We’re going to receive applications and get a review board together,” Primrose said. “We hope to get somebody who will continue what Chief Radosevich started. He has initiated some progress that has been really positive. He will be part of the search for a new chief.”
Radosevich could not be reached for comment Friday but Primrose had nothing but praise for Radosevich’s efforts to improve the police department.
“He has gotten us grant money which will go for new equipment,” Primrose said. “He has looked at the budget and made improvements.”
Radosevich took over as interim chief Dec. 3 in the wake of
former Chief Dennis Townsend’s resignation. He said at the time he was not looking to be the permanent chief and sought to provide technical assistance to the police department and get the department “in step with the community.”
Primrose said in December he was using guidelines from the International Association of Police Chiefs to aid in his search for a new chief.
