Richard Byrd, 62, died in Presbyterian Hospital on April 3, 2005 following an extended illness. Byrd was born on March 31, 1943 in Rome, Ga. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tucumcari. He was owner/ operator of Byrd Truck Services. He was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Myrtle D. Byrd and by a sister Deborah Byrd. Survivors include his wife Marsha of Tucumcari, three sons Brent Byrd (and Wife Sherry) of Tucumcari, Cody Byrd of Tucumcari and Troy Byrd (Angie) of Copan, Okla.; his daughter Glenda Jemigan of Texas; four grandchildren Cole Byrd, Kassandra Young, Dennis Young and Harley Hardwick; his sister Dorothy Reynolds of Tucumcari, his sister-in-law Rita Yarbrough of Albuquerque. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the First Baptist Church of Tucumcari with Rev. Benny Hipps and Rev. David England officiating. Burial will follow in Tucumcari Memorial park Cemetery. The family suggests for those who wish, donations be made to the First Baptist Church building Fund in Memory of Richard Byrd.
