Auxiliary gets ready for holiday season

According to Wanzella Murphy of the Dan C. Trigg Hospital Auxiliary, the auxiliary is beginning its annual Christmas Greetings Fund Drive on Nov. 1. Murphy said the concept behind the fund drive is that auxiliary members ask for donations to the hospital and then every donor is listed on the “Season’s Greetings” page in the local newspaper instead of sending Christmas cards to friends and relatives in Quay County. According to Murphy, the Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation will match the collected amount up to $10,000. Murphy said over the years donations from the Christmas Greetings Campaign have funded purchases such as new lobby furniture, new patients’ beds and furniture, and a paging system for the hospital. Christmas Greetings funds have also been used to purchase a mammography unit, vital signs monitors, lifeline units, x-ray equipment, ICU equipment, anesthesia equipment, a cardiac arrhythmia stimulator and many other pieces of equipment. Murphy said auxiliary members will be contacting individuals in the community but people may also mail in their donations to P.O. Box 608 in Tucumcari, or call 461-4638 and the donation will be picked up. “For your convenience,” said Murphy, “there will also be a Christmas Greetings Fund Drive “drop box” in the hospital’s administration office.
