M.O. Bain M.O. “Jack” Bain, 77, died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004. Jack Bain was born March 30, 1927, in Claude, Texas. He was a member of the Methodist Church in Sunray, Texas and was a veteran of World War II. He was a long-time County Commissioner in Moore County, Texas where he was also a member of Farm Bureau, the Texas Cattle Feeders Association and many other Texas Panhandle organizations. He was preceded in death by his wife Thrya Blanscet Bain, his parents, two brothers Otho Bain (Viola) formerly of Tucumcari and J.T. Bain. He is survived by three sons, a daughter, two brothers, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Services were Thursday in Sunray with burial following at the Lane Memorial Cemetery. Duane Verschelde Duane Verschelde, 67, of Amarillo died Saturday, July 31, 2004. Duane Verschelde married Sherry Sue Durham on Jan. 3, 1973 in Carrizozo. He lived in the Tucumcari, Hereford and Amarillo area for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Mary Verschelde, and a daughter, Tamara Weston-Johnson of Dalhart, Texas. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Susan Saiz of Amarillo and Tonya Taylor of Norman, Okla.; one brother, Ron Verschelde of San Antonio, Texas; seven sisters, Ewie Kuchera of Mankoto, Minn.; Mary Jane Hager (Bill) of Lake Miltona, Minn.; Angie Schlict (Bob) of Morton, Minn.; Norma Conti (Tom) of Rockford, Ill; Adrienne Verschelde of St. Clair, Minn.; Roxanne Lundquist (Terry) of Canby, Minn.; and Mary Ellen Haugen of Cannon Fall, Minn; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Private family services will be held. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel of Amarillo. Sharon Voeller Sharon Voeller, 60, died at her home, Tuesday, Aug. 10 with her family at her side. She was born in Buffalo, N.Y., on March 11, 1944 and moved to El Cajon, Calif., as a child. She and her husband, Eddie Voeller, moved to Tucumcari in 1977. She was preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by her son, Jim “Mac” McCord; daughter Tamara Fenner (Clarence); brother, William Shimp (Sue) of Descanso, Calif.; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Services are pending, following cremation. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be sent to the Breast Cancer Foundation at One Hanover Park, 16633 N. Dallas Parkway #600, Addison, Texas 75001. Arrangements are by Direct Funeral Services of Albuquerque. Bettye Felker Bettye Felker, 77. of Carlsbad died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004 at her home in Carlsbad. Bettye Felker was born August 13, 1926 in Ponder, Texas to Theodore and Ruby Faulkner Austin. She was raised in Texas. In 1943, at the age of 16, she married Sidney Felker in Denton, Texas. They had been married for 60 years at the time of his death in 2003. They moved to Tucumcari in 1964 where she worked as a bookkeeper in her husband’s business for 19 years. They retired to Carlsbad but spent their summers in Chama working in a gift shop. Her hobbies included fishing, playing golf and bowling. She was a member of the Blodgett Street Baptist Church and the Altrusa Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one sister She is survived by; one daughter, Barbara McCarty (Albert) of Carlsbad, two sons: Don Felker (Debbie) of Loving; Bill Felker (Trish) of Cloudcroft. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and 14 great gandchildren. Services were Friday morning, August 13 at the Blodgett Street Baptist Church with pastor David Prell and Rev. Dr. Lois McCarty officiating. Burial followed at the Carlsbad Cemetery.
