Charley Neely Charley Neely, age 82, of Portales, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis. Charley Neely was born Oct. 16, 1921, in Troup County, Georgia, to Emmett Madison and Edna Iola Martin Neely. He married Helen Politiski Nov. 11, 1944, in Moorhead, Minn. As a young man, he served in the Civilian Conservation Corps in Oregon. He joined the Army Air Corps during World War II. He served his country for 27 years before retiring from the Air Force. He flew 35 missions over Europe during World War II, and he served in Korea and Vietnam. Following his retirement from the Air Force, he worked for Consolidated Bottling Co. in Roswell. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; three brothers; and two sisters. He is survived by six children, Richard Neely (Judy) of Oceanside, Calif., Renee Neely of Portales, Maurene Goodpaster of Milwaukie, Ore., Charles Neely (Lucille) of Wolfforth, Texas, Mary Corley (Eddie) of Logan and Rodger Neely of Roswell; a sister Ellen Joiner (Eddie) of Alexander City Ala. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Services were this morning (Wednesday) at Resthaven Memorial Park in Lubbock. Father Tom Diebel officiated. Arrangements are by Resthaven Funeral Home of Lubbock. Irene Rush King Irene Rush King, 84, died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004 in Apataka, Fla. Irene King was born Dec. 24, 1921 and was the daughter of Quay County Pioneers resident George and Ona Rush. She was a long-time resident of Quay County and lived in the Forrest community and worked with Dr. Benson for 25 years as office nurse. She left the area in the 1980s. She was preceded in death by her husband Wilson King, her parents and one sister, Lorene Highley. She is survived by one sister Hesta Lee Loving of Apataka and Charlene Manaifeh of Apataka. Services were held Saturday, Aug. 7. At her wish she was cremated.
