Helen Marie Edwards Helen Marie Edwards, 86, of Friona, Texas died Thursday, July 15, 2004, at Parmer County Hospital in Friona, Texas. Services: 3 p.m. Sunday at Church of Christ of Fort Sumner. Helen Marie Edwards was born on April 23, 1918, in Childress, Texas to Willie and Flora Potter. She moved to Fort Sumner with her family in the 1920’s. She married Homer Edwards on June 27, 1937 in Fort Sumner. They moved to Melrose in 1950 and lived there until 1993 when they moved to Clovis. Family members said she enjoyed traveling, camping, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Roy Potter; two sisters, Clemmie Lowman and Thelma Byars; a daughter, Barbara Crozier; and a son-in-law, Bob Adams. She is survived by a daughter, Berlene Adams of Clovis; a brother, Bill Potter of Tucumacari; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Jim Gammon will officiate the services. Burial will be at Fort Sumner Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fort Sumner Cemetery Fund or the Children’s Home. Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis. Bonita Faye Roe Bonita Faye “Nita” Roe, 77, of Conchas Lake, died Monday, July 12, 2004. Nita Roe was born April 26, 1927 in Big Springs, Texas to A.D. and Florence Stephenson. She moved to Conchas Dam in 1972 with her husband. She was the bookkeeper for the water coop for many years and was a notary Public and did personal typing for many in the community. She was a past member of the extension club and a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit #19. She was very active in the community and hosted many gatherings at Conchas Lake. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years Johnie Roe. She is survived by her four children; Steve Roe (Rose) of Albuquerque, Russell Roe (Elisa) of Rio Rancho, Suzanne Moore of Tucumcari and Jerry Roe of Midland, Texas. She is also survived by Ted Reames. Additionally she is survived by two grandchildren, and five great-grand children. A memorial service will be held at Conchas Dam Baptist Church on Sunday, July 25 at 2 p.m. Donations may be made to the Conchas Dam Ambulance Fund. She has been cremated. Arrangements by Direct Funeral Services.
