Deming woman wins horseshoe tournament

At the Tucumcari Open Horseshoe Tournament on June 5, the New Mexico woman’s state horseshoe pitching champion, Doris Miller of Deming once again stepped into the winner’s circle winning four and losing only two and having a ringer percentage of 65 percent. Miller was followed in second place by Helen Laumbach who won 3.5 and lost 2.5. She in her turn had a 56.25 ringer percentage. On the men’s side, winner of the tournament was Chris Lopez who won five and lost one. His ringer percentage was 32.5 percent. In second place was Charles Knotts who won four and lost two with a ringer percentage of 41.6 percent.
