Madrid to run

Grace E. Madrid declared her candidacy for reelection for the position of District 1 County Commissioner.
Madrid has served for the past four years as District 1 Commissioner. Madrid is a retired State of New Mexico employee with 26 years service. She has served as president of the League of United Latin-American Citizens and is still treasurer of that organization. In addition she serves as a board member of the Mental Health Resources Inc. and is a past chairperson of the Health Planning Council. Madrid has also served as the past president for the Benevolent, Patriotic Order of the Does #210 and is a past president and secretary of the Quay County Lady Democrats organization. She is also a member of the Tucumcari Quay County Chamber of Commerce, Quay Council for the Arts and Humanities and Altrusa.
βIt is my sincere desire to be a commissioner who continues to represent the community and not special interest groups,β said Madrid about running for reelection. βI sincerely feel I have fulfilled my campaign promises on the issues that were of immediate concern to our community in 2000.β
