The Tucumcari girls team played one solid quarter of basketball, but The Lady Lions played three solid quarters to win 62-28 at Santa Rosa Tuesday. Tucumcari, scoring only eight points in the first half, could have easily wilted in the third period, but coach Alicia Trujillo had her team in the halftime locker room until just seconds before the second half began. Whatever the coach said to the girls, it must have worked, because Tucumcari outscored Santa Rosa 11-7 in the third quarter. Amber Martin scored seven in the third period, but soon fouled out leaving a serious gap in Tucumcari’s offense as Santa Rosa pulled away late.
