Alta Gay Johnson Alta Gay Johnson, 65, died in Shreveport, La. Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004. She was born Dec. 2, 1938 in Tucumcari. Johnson spent most of her adult life in Shreveport, La. where she was a member of the Assembly of God Church. She is survived by her husband, Shorty Johnson, of Shreveport as well as her son Lynn Johnson and her daughter Cindi Burke, both of Louisiana. She is also survived by two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dee and Eva Johnson. Graveside funeral services were held Sunday in the San Jon Cemetery. Johnson’s son-in-law, Rev. Paul Burke, officiated. Elizabeth Zimmerman Elizabeth "Sandy" Zimmerman, 93, of Mesa, Ariz. died January 22, 2004. Elizabeth was a beautician for 45 years, she was last employed by Rhodes Department Store in Arizona, retiring in 1975. She was a member of Kiwanis, volunteered at Friendship Village in Tempe, Ariz., and enjoyed antiques and art. Sandy Zimmerman is survived by her older sister Ethel Ernest of Tucumcari, two nieces, a grand niece, and four grand nephews. She is also survived by two great-grand nieces. and a great grand nephew. A visitation was held Monday at Lakeshore Mortuary in Mesa. Services were Tuesday at Epiphany Episcopal Church in Tempe, Ariz.. Donations may be made to The Make A Wish Foundation or Banner Garden Hospice in Mesa. Arrangements were by Lakeshore Mortuary, Mesa. Benedecto "Ben" Lucero Benedecto "Ben" Lucero, 75, died Jan. 26 in Tucumcari Lucero was born Aug. 26, 1925 in Anton Chico. He was a retired truck driver for Mayflower Trucking Company. He was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Tucumcari. Lucero is survived by his wife, Tillie Lucero, of Tucumcari and his children Edward and James Lucero, both of Lamar, Colo. Mike Lucero of Lenexis, Kan., Mary Sanderson, and Benita and Bernadine Lucero. He is also survived by his step-children John and Martha, Gina and Edward, J.R. and Rosalee, Evelyn and Bobby, Tony and Diana, Mary Ann and Louie, Margie and Donald and Vivian and Matthew. He is also survived by a brother, Chris Lucero, of Las Vegas and two sisters, Lala Baca of Anton Chico and Georgia Lucero of Pueblo Colorado. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret. Rosary will be recited on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Tucumcari. Mass of the Resurrection will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Anne’s Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Leo Padget will celebrate the mass. Burial will be in Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery.
