We are responsible

As defined by the dictionary (id (?d) n. In Freudian theory, the division of the psyche that is totally unconscious and serves as the source of instinctual impulses and demands for immediate satisfaction of primitive needs.) The way that the "id" was explained to me was "I want what I want when I want it". Just look at a newborn baby when they are hungry they want to be fed now, when they are dirty they want to be clean now. That’s okay for a newborn, it’s even okay for most children up to a point. After they reach a certain point they need to start doing things for themselves. "That’s called growth and maturing." One of the problems in this world today is that to many people are still living in the "Id" stage of life and they are full grown and able to do for themselves. I’m not talking about people who can’t, I’m talking about people who won’t. This concept of “I want what I want when I want it and I don’t want to do anything for it except beg and gripe,” is not the Christian way at all. 2Thesallonians 3:10 For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: ""If a man will not work, he shall not eat.'' God told Adam in the Garden of Eden that he would have to work for his living all the days of his life. Genesis 3:17-19 (NIV) 17 To Adam he said, "Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, 'You must not eat of it,' "Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat of it all the days of your life. 18 It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field. 19 By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return." Guess what God has never changed that law. Everyone since Adam and Eve have been required to work for their living. There is no free ride. Freud’s next stage is the "ego" which is defined "e·go In psychoanalysis, the division of the psyche that is conscious, most immediately controls thought and behavior, and is most in touch with external reality." It is time that we all started getting in touch with reality. God’s reality. We are all responsible for our own actions. We can’t blame our parents, society, our ethnic background, our teachers, or anyone else. We are responsible. Romans 2:1-11 (NIV) 1 You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things. 2 Now we know that God's judgment against those who do such things is based on truth. 3 So when you, a mere man, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God's judgment? 4 Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, tolerance and patience, not realizing that God's kindness leads you toward repentance? 5 But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God's wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed. 6 God "will give to each person according to what he has done." 7 To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. 8 But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger. 9 There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile; 10 but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. 11 For God does not show favoritism. Our God is the God of love, forgiveness, mercy, and acceptance. He is also the God who will hold every one of us accountable for our own actions. Maybe it is time for all of us to have a wake up call. Maybe it is time for all of us to realize that there is no free ride. Maybe it is time for all of us to tack responsibility for our own actions. Maybe it is time that we did what we can and then turn the rest over to God. Just maybe.
