Allen Payton Allen Payton, 69, died Sept. 10, 2003 at Trigg Memorial Hospital. He was born July 28, 1934 in Roy. Mr. Payton was a long time Tucumcari resident and was active in farming. He served is country in the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by three infant daughters, two sons, Melvin in 1980, Allen Jr. in 2001 and by his brother Larry in 1993. Survivors include his wife, Marion of Tucumcari; daughter Julie Payton; son, Wesley Payton of Tucumcari; five brothers, Leon Payton of Roy, Muggins Payton and Sammye of Albany, Ore., George Payton Jr and Lois of Borger, Texas, Charlie Payton of Portales and Robert Payton and wife Carol of St. George, Utah; four sisters, Jo Starr of Mesquite, Texas, Gay Greer of Albuquerque, Laura Frasier of McCook, Neb. and Jennie Brown and husband Jerry of Pampa, Texas. Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at the Dunn Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Bill Bowman will officiate. Burial will follow in the family plot of the Roy Cemetery. Arrangements by Dunn Funeral Home of Tucumcari. Memorial contributions may be sent to the ALS Association in memory of Allen Payton. Susan Dowds Lee Susan Dowds Lee , 59, of House died Sept. 10, 2003 at her home. She was born May 25, 1944 to Stanley and Elva (Jagers) Dowds in Park Rapids, Minn. Mrs. Lee married Bill Lee on July 25, 1960 in Claude, Texas. She was a nationally known artist and member of the House United Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents and son-in-law Grady Le Eldridge. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Melissa Saulsberry and husband Ty of House and Melanie Dinwiddie and husband Tommy of Capitan; six grandchildren, Tara, Ashley and Lee Griggs all of House and Ronnie and Grady Teke Eldridge both of Capitan and Kyra Dinwiddie of Aztec; three sisters, Gay Strong of Portales, Sheryl Haynes of Tucumcari and Liz Hamlet of Dallas, Texas. Services were 10 a.m. today at the House School Gymnasium. Arrangements are by LaGrone Funeral Chapel & Crematory of Roswell.
