College squad repaints arena

Before heading home for summer break, Mesalands Community College Rodeo Team members gave the Quay County Fairground rodeo facility a new coat of paint and a clean up. Visitors will see bright yellow and blue fences and gates at the arena as a result of the students’ efforts. “We are pleased that we have such a good working relationship with the county and have a great place to perform and practice and this is one way for us to show our appreciation,” said Mesalands Community College rodeo coach Danny Garcia. Part of the college’s arrangement with Quay County includes an effort to continually improve the rodeo facilities and stalls. The new stalls west of the arena are evidence of that commitment, and additional facilities are being constructed to further improve that area. In conjunction with that construction is a recently announced Mesalands Community College Foundation rodeo facility and equipment campaign designed to raise funds for additional construction and acquisition of equipment for the facility. Persons interested in contributing to this fund can call the rodeo facility and equipment campaign Chairperson Denise Border at 461-1127.
