Senior Macy Mitchell led three Portales players in double figures in kills with 12 and the Lady Rams dispatched Roswell High 25-18, 25-19, 23-25 at the Ram Activity Center.

Senior Tyler Rowley added 11 kills, sophomore Kristen Wagner 10 and senior Kelsey Laurenz eight for the Lady Rams (4-1).

“It was a good (match),” PHS coach Ruth Chavez said. “We played really well; it was just a really good team effort.”

We moved the ball around well. Our passing was really good tonight.”

Chavez said senior Corie Burress and junior Hannah Sissell both played well defensively for the Lady Rams. “They both had a lot of good digs,” Chavez said.

Portales returns to action on Friday and Saturday in the Moriarty Invitational. Pool play and quarterfinal matches are slated the first day, with the semifinal and finals on Saturday.
