Difference: The Mustangs dominated the middle two quarters, outscoring the Mules 28-7 to build a two-touchdown lead..
Difference-makers: Shallowater’s Jarek Black rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns, including a 29-yard run with 3:34 left to restore a 14-point lead (35-21). QB Brandon Hall also scored a pair of TDs for the Mustangs, and threw a 63-yard scoring pass to Tobias Sultan in the third quarter. … QB Beau Avila threw for three touchdowns for Muleshoe, finishing 19-of-30 through the air for 267 yards. Saul Elizalde caught six passes for 92 yards and Ryan Deleon five for 77, and each caught a touchdown pass.
By the numbers: Muleshoe finished with a 400-359 edge in total offense, but turned the ball over seven times — five on fumbles — to three for the Mustangs.

Difference: Senior Skyler McMath returned the opening kickoff 91 yards for a touchdown, and the Foxes’ defense forced seven turnovers — including five interceptions on 10 New Mexico Military passes, including two picks by Kolter West.
Difference-makers: McMath rushed for 109 yards scored three of the Foxes’ other four touchdowns on runs of 1, 24 and 17 yards. … West finished with 89 yards rushing and 66 passing, including a fourth-quarter TD toss to Nick Sanchez. … Fort Sumner’s defense limited NMMI to a net of minus-2 yards on three pass completions.

Bovina 35, Hale Center 6
Difference: The Mustangs broke the game open with three second-quarter touchdowns and led 35-0 in the first minute of the third quarter. … First downs were even 12-12, but Bovina had a 405-165 edge in total yards.
Difference-makers: Junior RB Marco Terrones rushed for 136 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries, while senior RB Rolando Perez added 104 yards on the ground and a touchdown. QB Andrew Marrufo also ran for a score, and threw a 22-yard TD pass to Gael Vela.
