• Overview: Muleshoe is making its first regional appearance since 1957. ... Muleshoe coach Matt Mason said seniors Tyson Turnbow, a 6-2 guard, and Cooper Washington, a 6-5 post, have stepped up their games in the playoffs. Turnbow is averaging 16.2 points and six assists a game this season while Washington, a Texas Tech football signee as a defensive end, adds 12.7 points and 8.5 rebounds. ... Eastland is led by 6-9 P Forrest Robinson, who signed with North Texas. “We need to know where he is at all times,” Mason said. “Cooper needs to be real physical with him when his back is to the basket, but he likes to step outside too.”

• Up next: The winner gets the winner between Friday’s earlier game between Idalou (27-1) and Hico (33-3) on Saturday for a trip to the Texas state tournament in Austin.

• Overview: Clarendon is the top-ranked team in Class 1A. Farwell is ranked sixth. ... The Steers, who beat Iraan 57-47 Wednesday, rely on a balanced attack with four players averaging in double figures, led by 6-2 senior guard Luke Carpenter (14 ppg). ... Clarendon beat Gruver 55-50 Wednesday behind 25 points from senior guard Johnny Gaines. ...  The Broncos advanced to the regional tournament championship game last year.
