Carlsbad (16-10) at Clovis (18-8)
When:
7 p.m. today in a District 4-5A tournament game at Rock Staubus Gym
Radio: KCLV-FM 99.1
Last time out: The Lady Wildcats lost at Hobbs 49-47 on Friday. Carlsbad hasn’t played since dropping a 63-42 decision at The Rock on Feb. 15.
Cavegirls to watch: Taylor Edmondson, PG, 5-11, Sr.; Britni Jo Smith, G, 5-6, Jr.; Susan Gomez, P, 6-2, Sr.
Of note: The Cavegirls are coming in on a five-game losing streak. The first three of those were by a combined eight points. … Lady Cats coach Jeff Reed said Edmondson is the key player for the Cavegirls. She’s scored 39 points in the first two meetings. “We’ve got to keep the ball out of her hands, obviously,” Reed said. “Edmondson is going to get what she’s going to get. We just don’t want anybody else to do anything.” … The winner plays at Hobbs in the tournament championship at 7 p.m. Saturday. The Lady Eagles have beaten Clovis twice by a combined three points this season.
