Dora 52, Floyd 37

• Recap: The Dora Coyotes got five first-half 3-pointers from junior Colton Gruis and led wire-to-wire to beat the Floyd Broncos 52-37 in District 8-1A action at Floyd.

Gruis hit a pair of 3-pointers to stake Dora to a 10-0 lead midway through the first quarter. The Broncos pulled to 10-6 after one period, but could never get closer.

Gruis finished with 17 points and sophomore Tyler Sites added 10 for the Coyotes. Senior Justin Rogers led the Broncos with 11, while seniors J’Kobie lee an Hunter Terry each had 10.

• Recap: Senior Kelli Merrick scored on a sideline out-of-bounds lob as time expired, giving Dora a 38-37 District 8-1A win over host Floyd.

Lady Broncos senior Tori Tucker, fouled on a 3-point shot in the closing seconds, made all three attempts to give Floyd a 37-36 lead. The Lady Coyotes used a long inbounds pass to get into the forecourt, and senior Deserai Haraughty made the inbounds pass for the game-winner to Merrick, who finished with 23 points.

Freshman Tabitha Ornelas had 12 points for Floyod, and Tucker finished with 10.
