Clovis Christian senior Mike Urioste has been chosen state 6-man player of the year for the 2010 season after the Eagles stormed to the state championship.
Urioste was a first-team choice on offense (running back) and defense (linebacker) for the Eagles, who completed an 10-0 season on Saturday with a 60-13 win at Lake Arthur in the finals.
Other first-team choices for the Eagles were linemen Kenny Duong and Mike Root on offense and lineman Daniel Graham and safety Kevin Nacanceno on defense. CCS also had four second-team choices and one honorable mention selection.
“Overall, I’m just super-pleased,” CCS coach Jason Swann said. “The kids who deserved it, got it.”
The selections were made by 6-man coaches. Lake Arthur’s Jose Porras was chosen coach of the year.
