Difference: The Wolverines overcame two early turnovers, scoring three touchdowns in the second period for a 21-0 halftime lead.

Difference-makers: Senior TE Lucas Walthers scored on a 25-yard pass from senior QB Jose Posada in the and on a 60-yard reverse on the first play of the third quarter. … Posada also threw an 8-yard TD pass to Kolten Miller in the third period. … Sergio Posada went 5-for-5 on PATs, then added the icing on the cake with a 34-yard FG early in the final period..

Of note: With the win, Texico likely cemented a berth in the upcoming Class 2A playoffs. The Wolverines will find out their status later today.

Records: Fort Sumner 8-1 (1-1 District 2-1A), Jal 3-5 (1-1).

Difference: The Foxes took the lead for good with two touchdowns in the final minute of the first quarter, then blanked the Panthers the rest of the way.

Difference-makers: Blake Crenshaw rushed for 138 yards and Skylar McMath added 118 for the Foxes. Both scored two touchdowns, including a 73-yard kickoff return by McMath late in the first quarter. … QB Saxxon Artalejo threw a pair of first-quarter scores for the Panthers, including a 93-yarder with 47 seconds left in the first quarter to Malike Anderson that gave Jal a shortlived 15-14 lead.

Of note: Fort Sumner is likely to get a No. 2 seed — and thus a first-round bye — behind district rival Hagerman in the Class 1A playoffs. … The Foxes piled up 373 total yards, including 281 on the ground. … On defense, Fort Sumner forced Jal into five turnovers — three interceptions, two fumbles. … The teams combined for 28 penalties for 236 yards, with both going over the 100-yard mark.

Records: Sudan 2-8 (1-3 District 3-1A Division II), Bovina 4-5 (1-2).

Difference: The Mustangs scored three touchdowns in the final 7 1/2 minutes of the second quarter to open a 28-6 halftime lead.

Difference-makers: Senior Desmond Fox rushed for 86 yards and two touchdowns for Bovina, while QB Dorian Vela also scored twice. … Vela went 4-of-5 passing for 112 yards, including three for 86 yards to Gael Vela. … Richard Montes had a pair of short touchdown runs and Dayton Fisher had four catches for 59 yards for the Hornets.

Of note: Bovina snapped a five-game losing streak. … The Mustangs put themselves in prime position for a playoff berth if it can beat winless Nazareth next week.
