The Portales Rams won only two events, but put together enough points up and down the line Thurday to take the team title in the Ram Relays at PHS.
Portales finished with 90 1/2 points to 87 for Ruidoso and 80 1/2 for Texico in the 11-school event.
Cody Small took both wins for the Rams, winning the 110 hurdles with a time of 16.04 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 45.40.
In girls competition, Portales came in a distant second behind Fort Sumner. The Vixens compiled 131 points to 78 1/2 for the Lady Rams, with Texico placing third with 61 points.
Fort Sumner won nine of the 12 track events for the girls, including 1-2 finishes in the 100 and 800. The Lady Rams’ onlyl win came in triple jump with Veronica Ayals going 29 feet, 1 inch.
Floyd’s Tori Tucker captured first place in girls javelin competition with a throw of 123-6, and she was second in shot put at 31-6. The Lady Broncos finished ninth overall with 34 1/2 points.
