Katlin Luscombe scored 16 points and Texico played strong defense en route to a 54-29 victory over Capitan in Class 2A at Texico.

In winning their 16th game in a row, the Lady Wolverines (23-5) built a 26-point lead through three quarters, holding the Lady Tigers to just 15 points in that time.

Sophomore Jordyn Cooper added 11 points for Texico, which is seeking its third 2A title in the last four years. Kersti Davis led the Lady Tigers (15-8) with 10 points.

• In Class 1A at Grady, the Lady Bronchos erased an eight-point halftime deficit to nip Cimarron 47-46 behind 19 points from junior guard Mandy Rush.

Rush hit two 3-pointers and senior guard Skylar Starbuck added another as Grady (17-9) outscored the Lady Rams 16-7 in the third quarter to move in front. Starbuck finished with 12 points and senior post Molly Rush added 10 for the Lady Bronchos.

Cimarron (10-14), which won the 1A state title last year, got 18 points from senior post Erin Arko and 11 from junior forward Lacy Harris.

• Senior post Veronica Mendoza led three Floyd players in double figures with 15 points and the Lady Broncos cruised past Desert Academy 70-58 in a Class 1A contest at Santa Fe.

Junior guard Tori Tucker added two 3-pointers and 13 points and senior guard Bree Lancaster finished with 10 for Floyd, which put 10 players into the scoring column. The Lady Broncos rolled to a 41-17 halftime lead.

Sophomore point guard Estrella Flores had a pair of 3-pointers and scored 18 points for the Lady Wildcats (12-9), while senior guard Maredith Davis added 14.
