GRADY — The San Jon Coyotes have found the right time to get hot.
Seeded last in the four-team District 4-1A boys tournament, the Coyotes pulled their second consecutive road upset Wednesday night with a 44-36 win over second-seeded Grady.
The win ensures San Jon (7-16) a berth in next week’s regional round. The Coyotes will go for the district tourney title — on the road again — against top-seeded Logan on Friday.
San Jon, which won at Clovis Christian 52-43 on Tuesday night, erased a 3-point deficit by outscoring the Bronchos 17-6 in the final period.
Freshman guard Jacob Benally had three 3-pointers, including two in the fourth quarter, and finished with 21 points for San Jon. Grady (5-15) was led by 12 points from senior guard Dalton Thomas.
