LOVINGTON — Senior guard Ashley Hernandez had four 3-pointers en route to 17 points Saturday night as the Portales Lady Rams routed Lovington 50-22 in a District 4-3A matchup.
Portales (14-11, 5-0 district) led 11-2 at the quarter and was never in trouble in its second lopsided win of the season over the Lady Wildcats (20-4, 2-2).
Sophomore forward Macy Mitchell left the game in the third quarter after hitting her head on the floor, but PHS coach Clay Stout said the rest of the team picked up its play after that.
“It’s always tough playing in Lovington, but I thought in the second half our girls really took control,” Stout said.
Senior forward Jenna Wagner and junior forward Gabby Garcia added 12 points each for Portales, which hosts Texico on Tuesday night and district foe Ruidoso on Friday to wrap up the regular season.
