• Muleshoe outscored Childress 23-14 in the fourth quarter Friday night, and the Mules took over the District 2-2A lead with a 58-52 victory over the Bobcats at Childress.

Muleshoe (18-11, 7-2 district) grabbed a one-game lead over Floydada, which lost to Friona on Friday night. The Whirlwinds host the Mules on Tuesday in the regular-season finale.

Tyson Turnbow had three 3-pointers and finished with 21 points for the Mules, while Cooper Washignton added 16 points. Childress (19-13, 4-5) led 38-35 heading into the final period.

• The Farwell Steers rode 18 points from junior center Rane Carpenter to a 57-40 District 5-1A victory over Olton at Farwell.

The Steers (21-7, 8-2) led 10-5 at the quarter and steadily increased the margin. Junior guard Landry Actkinson added 10 points for Farwell.

• Springlake-Earth outscored Bovina 13-8 in the final period and eked out a 46-44 District 5-1A win in the finale for both teams at Springlake-Earth.

Junior Dorian Vela scored 12 points and sophomore Gael Vela added 11 for the Mustangs (8-17, 2-8).
