Farwell is bringing Texico coach Mike Prokop aboard, hiring him Monday to be the school’s football coach, according to a story in this week's State Line Tribune.

Prokop spent 10 years at Texico, nine as head coach, and led the Wolverines to three state titles and three runnerup finishes. Texico finished with 12-0 records in 2003, 2004 and 2008.

He replaces Shane Perkins, who was brought in on an interim basis after the school reassigned Mark Anglin. The Steers went 2-5 under Anglin in 2009, and finished the season 6-6.

The Texico girls track team also won a state title last May with Prokop as coach.

Prokop asked to be reassigned to an assistant coach last season Texico.

Prokop also coaches at Clovis, Melrose, Truth or Consequences, Lubbock Cooper, Texas, and Springlake-Earth, Texas.
